Grom Search Kitesurf Comp
Supported by the SE QLD Kitesurfing Association, there is a huge prize pool guaranteed to make any youngster drool with anticipation.
We wont be getting too serious with the format as we want to make sure that fun is at the top of the agenda all day.  We will have age divisions of under 18, U16 and U14 to separate the hotshots from the hotshots-to-be.  There will be awards and prizes for big air, freestyle moves, wave riding and racing.  The racing will be a Downwind Dash for Cash and may also include a body dragging discipline for the not-so-skilful kiters.   Please take care not to wipe-out the babes holding the cash! The most promising talents will win a development course with Andy Yates.
Registrations will only be accepted on the day between 8:30am and 10am Saturday 27th Feb.  Riders meeting at 10:18am – you snooze you loose!
If the wind doesn’t co-operate, we will run the comp on Sunday 28th.

Free event but all entrants must be members of SEQKA ($65).  Join on the day.
Email us for more info if you need it.

Outdoor Big Screen
Expect something special!  Not only will we have a collection of the best kite flicks ever made, but they will be projected huge alongside the live rockin’ rhythms from the stage.  The big screen is a top secret development from the Kitethrills fun lab.  A year in development the screen heralds a new era in social intercourse for kitesurfers of Caloundra.

On Stage
Headlining - The Band Of Frequencies
We are lucky enough to have the Band of Frequencies to entertain us.  Originating from Byron Bay and Brisbane in 2005 The BOF has developed a strong following ever since.

We can expect a roots laden, heavy grooving rock and soul sound merging into ambient acoustics and electronic and dub styles, psychedelia and live drum'n'bass.   Bring it on!

The band have all played together for years in the internationally renowned world beat group Afro Dizzi Act, playing major festivals such as the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour in the Grass, the Big Day Out, Livid, and many more.

Front man Sol Carroll has featured in many well known groups over the years including Afro Dizzi Act, the Resin Dogs for their latest release 'More', Banawurun, Soul Prism and The Visitors to name a few. Combined with the rock solid low frequencies laid down by Oj 'the Juice' Newcomb on Bass and Mark Henman's mind blowing styles on drums they form a cohesive and explosive trio.

In Support - Tribal Groove  Matt James
Expect to find yourself with big smiles and rhythm-delivered goose bumps.  Matt is a freaky musician who simultaneously delivers the the deep vibrations of didgeridoos with rhythmic percussion, soulful guitar, and serenading flutes.   He is a Currimundi local and has become a great friend of Kitethrills.  Most days he can be found in the shop helping our customers feel welcome and enjoying a laugh.  Matts music takes you on a journey through many flavors of rhythm and melody.  His rich tribal grooves will move your body and your soul.
Matt is a memorable act for sure.

So join us on the 27th when a full moon rises late over the lake to dance in the sand and be taken on a musical journey with the Band of Frequencies and Matt James.

Please remember this is an alcohol free event and police will be present to ensure we all enjoy ourselves responsibly.
